AlamoPROMISE has received the 2024 社区服务 Award from the 圣安东尼奥 Association of Hispanic Journalists.

AlamoPROMISE offers graduating seniors in Bexar县 the chance to pursue higher education without the financial burden. This last-dollar scholarship covers tuition and required fees for up to three years or until students complete an associate degree or academic certificate, whichever comes first.

Since its launch in 2019, 16,044 AlamoPROMISE Scholars have enrolled. Nearly half – 49% – of current scholars are pursuing STEM-related fields in Health & Biosciences and Science and Technology, and 88% are students of color.

The 阿拉莫大学 expects to serve 12,645 Promise Scholars in Fall 2024/Spring 2025.

每年, the SAAHJ honors industry professionals and leaders with four awards: the Henry Guerra Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Journalism, 社区服务, 美国东部时间rella de Esperanza, and Corazón De Oro.

今年, other SAAHJ honorees included Nora López, executive editor at the 圣安东尼奥 Express-新闻, with the Henry Guerra Lifetime Achievement Award, and Carmen Tafolla, state poet laureate and 圣安东尼奥’s first poet laureate, with the Corazón de Oro Award.
